The Rt. Rev. Edwin F. "Ted" Gulick Jr., became the assistant bishop on January 1, 2011. Bishop Gulick returns to his native Virginia from the Diocese of Kentucky, where he served as diocesan bishop from 1994-2010.

The Rt. Rev. David Colin Jones. Bishop Jones was elected on January 27, 1995, and consecrated in the Washington National Cathedral on June 24, 1995. He lives in Burke and keeps office hours in Alexandria and Richmond.

The Rt. Rev. Shannon Sherwood Johnston. Bishop Johnston was elected on January 26, 2007, and consecrated in the Washington National Cathedral on May 26, 2007. He lives in Richmond with his wife, Ellen.

Presiding Bishop, The Episcopal Church

The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori was elected to a nine-year term as Presiding Bishop at the 75th General Convention and invested on November 4th, 2006. She serves as Chief Pastor and Primate of The Episcopal Church, USA, president of the House of Bishops, president and chief executive officer of the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society, and president or chair of many Episcopal Church boards and agencies.
